Indian Mound Neighborhood Association Meeting Minutes from October 15, 2018.

  • Introductions
  • Jordan Schiele, Jerusalem Farm
    • Jerusalem Farm does small home repair in Northeast (zip codes64123-64127)
    • Did study in Indian Mound last year about code violations
      • 72% of codes violations in Indian Mound could be resolved with little resources, just education and assistance.
      • Litter, unapproved storage, fascia/soffit
    • Donor wants to give money to Jerusalem Farm to help address these issues
      • Contact homeowners, activate volunteers
    • Looking for feedback from IMNA residents about where to focus
    • Want it to be a community effort
    • Neighborhood Accountability Board
      • This helps residents know the expectations of the city
      • NAB looks at it from neighborhood support rather than punitive punishment

    • IMNA also has list of resources available on the website
    • Resident suggests resource that explains common code violations

    • Nov. 3 – Tweed Ride, meet at 10 for breakfast and coffee, ride at 11
      • Meet at Concourse
    • Ride through Cliff Drive, Pendleton Heights, Scarritt and part of Indian Mound.
    • Ride bikes and dress up
    • Picnic on lawn at Concourse
    • Live music, jugglers, Eleos
    • Free, suggested donations – go to support their educational programming
    • Pop-up event this weekend: Oct. 20 at 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Van Brunt and St. John, traffic calming

      • East Patrol had 250-300 people attend

      • Auto theft up
        • Could be that it’s getting colder so people leaving cars running to warm up
        • Misdemeanor in KCMO to leave car running unattended
      • Aggravated assault up
    • Captain Ryan Mills leaving East Patrol
  • 5415 Community Garden Fall Clean Up at 12:30 p.m.

  • Pumpkin Patch Event
    • Oct. 27 2:00-4:00 p.m.
    • Indian Mound Park at Belmont and Gladstone
    • Partnership with Lykins Neighborhood Association
    • Pony rides, Zoomobile, vegetable petting zoo, free pumpkins
  • Holiday Lights Contest begins Nov. 1
    • Any house in Indian Mound eligible
    • Let Indian Mound board know any good houses

    • Two positions opening in 2019
    • To be eligible, must be paid members, attend 50% of general meetings
  • Election Day is Nov. 6
    • Ballot in Jackson County is large, should look at it beforehand.
    • Library levy is on the ballot, and North-East Library is prime candidate for renovations.

    • Free Thanksgiving dinner
    • Oct. 31 – 6-8 – Trunk or Treat event
    • Will be hosting the December Indian Mound Potluck.
